Banasmita Barman, Former student

I studied in St. Xavier’s High School, Tamulpur, for the last 12 years. Our school is situated in a backward area of Baksa district, Assam. Ever since the establishment our school in the year 2004, I have seen the Fathers and Sisters working hard for the development of the school. They worked in different ways to develop the mentality of the people in our area. Firstly, they started giving free spoken English class to the people to remove the communication problem. Secondly, hey provided a good environment for the students to continue with their studies. Thirdly, they created self-awareness and awareness of their collective identity and heritage. Above all they provided us with a vision that went beyond our village, clan or tribe and gave a new world view based on the message of love, equality, forgiveness, pardon, peace, brotherhood, commitment and sacrifice.
